Yes. PerfPro and perfmon are two separate applications and can co-exist on the same system. Installing PerfPro will not affect any other applications on your system.
A single monitoring session can run for 2,147,483,648 (231) milliseconds. This is approximately 25 days of continuous recording.
The same way that notepad.exe compares against a word processor or how a paint compares to a full featured graphics program.
Perfmon illustrates the basics of what can be done with performance monitoring but leaves much to be desired in terms of features and capabilities. It lacks
basic features such as clipboard support, printing, automation support, detailed reports, events, the ability to collect data over extended periods of time and etc.
If the current "zoom" level is set to view all data, the chart will print on a single sheet of paper,
exactly as it appears on screen. At the highest zoom level (1-minute) it would take 36,000 sheets to
print the entire chart. Fortunately you can select which of those 36,000 pages you want and print only those pages.
The answer depends on a number of factors. The sample rate and the number of channels being recorded are the main
factors in determining this. Sampling a single channel once every 5 minutes will require much less memory than recording 30 channels
twice a second. PerfPro will share memory between channels and compress data in order to use the smallest possible memory footprint.
No. PerfPro is licensed on a per-computer basis so you can boot multiple operating systems and use
a single PerfPro license. During activation time PerfPro will detect that the installation is being made on an existing
system and will allow you to reuse your current license. If you have questions or run into problems contact us at
Licensing@Magnalis.com and we'll be glad to assist you.
Yes it will. To PerfPro this is similar to installing and booting multiple operating systems.
See the answer to the previous question for a more detailed answer.
Yes and No. While PerfPro can't do this through the user interface at this time, you can get the desired result by using the
automation interface to get data points and compute the difference yourself. Once you compute the difference you can insert the values
back into PerfPro and have the data appear in the chart and report.
Through the user interface the maximum sampling rate is limited to 500 milliseconds (2 samples per second). When
driven through the automation interface, PerfPro will take data as fast as the system allows. In some cases we have observed sample
rates of over 20 samples per second.
PerfPro places no restrictions on the number of simultaneously open charts or channels. The number of
charts/channels is limited only by available memory and computing power.
PerfPro runs more efficiently when there are multiple channels in a single chart. This is because a chart can
combine data from different channels but this data cannot be combined across charts. This is only likely to be a concern with tests
that run for many days. Otherwise, it is really a matter of personal preference.
